“Fast Cure EVA Encapsulant made by NovoPolymers ready for qualification at PV module manufacturers”

06 August 2008 - NovoPolymers has reached a major second milestone in its start up phase. A first encapsulant, branded as NovoVellum CFC3 has been formulated, converted into a sheet and tested for it’s suitably to serve as an encapsulant for solar cells.

After initial trials at a first PV module maker, NovoVellum CFC3 is released for further qualification trials at a selected group of photovoltaic module manufacturers.

It is a fast cure EVA based sheet that is properly UV and light stabilized. A total cycle of 15 to 17 minutes total cycle is deemed possible. We recommend trying the film, using a fast cure cycle for the laminator. The basic features of the film are, excellent transparency, no gas bubbles after cure and firm bonding to glass and to coated and uncoated backsheet.

The film is currently available in 380µm, but can be produced at different gauges as of 200 microns up to 500 microns or more. The width of our sample reels is currently 800 mm. In the near future NovoPolymers will be able to produce up to 1400 mm wide.

In the next weeks also our Ultra Fast Cure fomulation is believed to be ready. We estimate a total cycle of approximatly 12 minutes or less.
